Samsun, the most developed city in Black Sea region, has historical significance in terms of being a pioneer city during Turkish War of Independence. The city, that had been named as Amisos in ancient times, has the most significant commercial port in the region.

In Samsun, that has the most beautiful beaches in Black Sea region, people can go for swimming in the coastline lying between Yakakent and Terme. Altınkaya dam lake, flatlands of Vezir, Kunduz, Ladik and Akdağare favorable for outdoor sports; trekking, handline fishing, water sports, motor drive, grass skiing and camping activities.

Among the list of must-to-do in Samsun are shopping in Russian Bazaar, trip with phaeton in the coastline, visiting the hill of Amisos with ropeway and discovering the delta of Kızılırmak, that is a home for more than 300 bird species.
