Montreal, the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec, is Canada's second largest city, located on the Island of Montreal at the confluence of the Ottawa and Saint Lawrence Rivers. The city, which is the second most French-speaking settlement in the world after Paris, is an important port city on the Saint Lawrence Seaway that connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
With its historical buildings, narrow streets, tile-colored houses, cathedrals, mysterious and mystical decor, humid air and chirpy cafes, Montreal looks like a European city you come across in the middle of Canada. The city center, which is lively 24 hours a day, its unique location between the river and the mountain, and where commercial and cultural activities are not lacking, Montreal is a full center.
Date
The city, formerly known as Ville-Marie, takes its current name from Mont Royal, a three-peaked mountain located in the heart of the city. With its history dating back to a long time before the arrival of Europeans in the region in the 1500s, it became the capital of entertainment lovers after the First World War and greatly revitalized its economy. With the emergence of conflicts between French and English Canadians in 1970, many people immigrated from the city. The city, whose economy was deteriorating for a while, maintains its luxurious and modern style with the bustling commercial life today.
