Transportation from Quito City Center to Quito Airport
Although Mariscal Sucre International Airport is approximately 40 km from the city of Quito, it is quite easy to reach by using various vehicles in the city.
One of the most convenient ways to reach the airport is to take the private buses that run between the city center and the airport. These buses depart from the old airport, which is currently used as a park, and arrive at the new airport after about an hour's journey.
Buses depart every half hour on weekdays and every hour on weekends. Free internet service is available on the buses. One suitcase and one hand luggage up to 23 kg are included in the ticket price. You have to pay an additional fee for extra baggage. Tickets are available online or at the bus ticket office.
City buses to the airport depart from the Rio Coca terminal just outside the city centre. Buses operating between 05.45 in the morning and 21.30 in the evening take you to the airport in approximately 1.5 hours depending on the traffic situation.
You will not have any trouble finding a taxi, especially in the touristic center of the city. You can either turn from the street or ask the receptionist of your hotel to call a taxi for you. Taxis apply pre-determined price tariffs from the city center to the airport, and when traveling towards the airport, you pay 3-4 dollars less than the arrival schedule.
Transportation from Galapagos Airport to City Center
Galapagos Islands, an island community connected to Ecuador in the east of the Pacific Ocean, has made its name known all over the world with the giant tortoises that we see mostly on social media.
Located about 1000 km west of the South American continent, the islands are among the first places that come to mind, especially when it comes to cruise tourism and luxury holidays. The airport, which connects the island to other parts of the world, is located on Baltra Island.
It is also known as Galapagos Airport, Seymour de Baltra Airport and Galapagos ecological Airport. The most important feature of the airport is that its entire construction and operation has been developed with completely environmentally friendly methods. The airport consists of a military and civil airport campus in a special environmental protection zone.
Unfortunately, there is no public transportation option from the airport on the island of Baltra, also known as South Seymour, to other settlements of the Galapagos Islands. Since the island mainly hosts luxury category tourists, many hotels travel to the island either with package tours or with a wide range of package options that include hotel and transportation.
For individual arrivals, it is necessary to use a taxi to reach different parts of the island. There is no serious tourism activity in the area where the airport is located on the island. Therefore, it is necessary to take a transfer service or use a taxi to pass to other islands, especially Santa Cruz.
Car rental is another common option. Motorcycles are also available on the island. If you have a motorcycle license, do not miss this option. Uber is among the alternatives used in the country.
