Chernivtsi International Airport, which is 10 km from Chernivtsi city center in the west of Ukraine, serves approximately 70,000 passengers annually. First built in 1933 for the military purposes of the Soviet Union, Chernivtsi International Airport serves at international standards with the status it gained as a result of the operations planned under the leadership of Ukraine International Airlines in the past years. At the airport, flights are organized to other parts of Ukraine, especially to Kyiv, and to the important centers of Europe in Naples, Athens and Istanbul. It should be added as a footnote that there are frequent charter flights from Chernivtsi International Airport to Antalya.
