Transportation from San Jose City Center to San Jose Airport
Buses going in the direction of Alajuela from the TUASA Terminal in San Jose city center also carry passengers to the airport located on their route. The journey from the city center takes an average of 35 minutes. The ticket office in the terminal or the bus driver sells the bus ticket. Since the airport is not the last stop, you need to carefully follow the announcements made on the bus.
Another option for this trip is to take a taxi. You can request a taxi from the reception of your hotel to your hotel, or you can take a taxi from any center where taxis are busy. When using a taxi, be sure to agree with the taxi driver about your destination, travel time and cost.
If you don't want to run a taximeter, get out of the taxi or insist on the taxi driver to turn on the meter. There are boards on average taxi fares at certain points in the city. You can get information about estimated distance and taxi fares from these points.
You can also use the Uber application in order not to struggle with tourist taxi tension or to experience stress. Uber service is also widely used in the city of San Jose.
You can also reach the airport from the city with a shuttle that you have booked from the tourism agencies in the city or online.
Transportation from Santo Domingo Airport to Santo Domingo City Center
Las Américas International Airport, also known as Santo Domingo Airport, is known as the second busiest airport in the Dominican Republic. Since there is no public transportation to reach Santo Domingo city center, transportation is mostly provided by private transfers and taxis.
You can find a taxi 24/7 at the airport. Taxis here charge a fixed price to take passengers into the city. However, there may be unofficial changes to this fixed schedule during high season, so you can also book your journey online before arriving at the airport.
The distance between the city center and the airport is 30 km and the journey normally takes 45 minutes. You can pay the taxi driver in cash, either in US dollars or in Dominican pesos, but since the fixed rate is set in US dollars, the taxi driver's own exchange rate may be lower than you expect when you pay in pesos. Also, taxis at the airport only take (maximum) 3 passengers.
For your transfer, you can hire a shuttle from local companies or from the tour sites of familiar global companies. Thus, you will have a vehicle that greets you with your name at the airport and takes you to your hotel without wasting time.
If you do not want to deal with public transportation and taxis and want to go to the places to see in Santo Domingo, you can rent a car from the rent-a-car companies at the airport. Here you can find the offices of many well-known companies such as Hertz, Sixt and Avis.
Although there is no bus from Santo Domingo Airport to the city center, you can go to the city center by taking the buses that pass through the main road (Autopista las Americas) after a three-kilometer walk.
