Transportation from City Center to San Antonio International Airport
The airport of San Antonio, the second largest city in Texas, is 13 km from the city center and it is possible to reach the airport by private transfer, public transportation, shared taxi applications and regular taxi.
VIA Metropolitan Transit bus No. 5 is the most economical vehicle to go from the city center to San Antonio Airport. The bus, which departs from the North Star shopping center in the center and follows McCullough and Marys Streets to the airport's Terminal B, runs every half hour during daylight hours.
The flights, which fall once an hour in the evening, operate between 05:00 in the morning and 22:00 at night. It takes 35 minutes to get to the airport from San Antonio this way.
Taking a taxi from the city center to the airport takes 20 minutes under normal conditions, and all taxis in San Antonio have to turn on the meter. Apart from regular taxis, there are also vehicles that you can call by downloading the Uber, Lyft and Get Me phone apps and signing up.
They are usually more affordable than a taxi and you know up front how much you will pay. Taxis and vehicles called from the app also terminate their journeys at the drop-off points of Terminal B at the airport.
Also, if you are staying at a hotel near San Antonio Airport, your hotel may have a free airport shuttle. You can confirm this by asking the reception.
Transportation from Santo Domingo Airport to Santo Domingo City Center
Las Américas International Airport, also known as Santo Domingo Airport, is known as the second busiest airport in the Dominican Republic. Since there is no public transportation to reach Santo Domingo city center, transportation is mostly provided by private transfers and taxis.
You can find a taxi 24/7 at the airport. Taxis here charge a fixed price to take passengers into the city. However, there may be unofficial changes to this fixed schedule during high season, so you can also book your journey online before arriving at the airport.
The distance between the city center and the airport is 30 km and the journey normally takes 45 minutes. You can pay the taxi driver in cash, either in US dollars or in Dominican pesos, but since the fixed rate is set in US dollars, the taxi driver's own exchange rate may be lower than you expect when you pay in pesos. Also, taxis at the airport only take (maximum) 3 passengers.
For your transfer, you can hire a shuttle from local companies or from the tour sites of familiar global companies. Thus, you will have a vehicle that greets you with your name at the airport and takes you to your hotel without wasting time.
If you do not want to deal with public transportation and taxis and want to go to the places to see in Santo Domingo, you can rent a car from the rent-a-car companies at the airport. Here you can find the offices of many well-known companies such as Hertz, Sixt and Avis.
Although there is no bus from Santo Domingo Airport to the city center, you can go to the city center by taking the buses that pass through the main road (Autopista las Americas) after a three-kilometer walk.
