Getting from Jackson's Airport to Port Moresby City Center
Port Moresby Airport, officially known as Jacksons International Airport (POM), is the main airport serving Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea.
Although the airport serves the capital, there is no public transportation to the city center from here. Therefore, your best option to get from the airport to the city center is to take a taxi. As soon as you step out of the arriving passenger floor, you can see the taxi stands.
The city center is about 8 km away and the taxi ride takes an average of 20 minutes. Since they do not have taximeters, it is strongly recommended that you agree on how much you will pay before taking a taxi.
Another option is to use the airport shuttle services. The first thing you need to do before you start your journey is to contact the hotel where you will stay and find out if they provide a paid or free shuttle service.
If your hotel provides a shuttle service to the city center, you should definitely purchase this service. If not, you can also use the shuttles at the airport. These shuttles know the location of most hotels in the hotel by heart and will take you to the door of your hotel.
Attractions in Port Moresby include Moitika Wildlife Sanctuary, Hazel Beach, Bomana War Cemetery and Papua New Guinea National Museum of Art. The country has many natural wonders that are recommended to be visited outside the capital.
That's why you can consider the idea of renting a car from the airport. You can find the offices of many global car rental companies at the airport. Since this is a Commonwealth of Nations country, it should be noted that traffic flows from the opposite side to us.
