Transportation from City Center to El Alto International Airport
El Alto International Airport or La Paz Airport is the main airport of the capital city of Bolivia, La Paz, and its position at an altitude of 4 thousand 61 meters makes it the highest international airport in the world.
The most economical way to reach El Alto International Airport from the city center is to take the bus number 212. This bus leaves every 15 minutes. The bus, which departs from its stop around Plaza Isabel la Católica in the Sopocachi area between 06:00 and 21:00, first passes through Avenida 16 de Julio (July 16 Boulevard) and then arrives at the airport in approximately 45 minutes, passing through San Francisco square. You can pay the ticket price to the driver in cash.
Another economical option is the minibuses to the airport. These vehicles arrive at the airport in about 40 minutes, depending on the point you get on from the city. If you are carrying large suitcases, you may consider using another vehicle instead of the minibus. Be prepared to pay a fee for regular size suitcases as well. Dolmuses drop you off at their stops outside the airport terminal.
You have a plane to catch and if you don't want to stress at all, you can stop and take a taxi from the city center. Thus, you will arrive at the airport in 20 minutes instead of 40. If you want an even safer option, you can call a vehicle to your location using the Uber application, which is used frequently in many parts of the world. The amount you will pay and the journey time will be very close to the taxi. Uber and taxis will drop you off at specially designated drop-off points at the airport terminal building.
You can also reach El Alto Airport from La Paz city center with a private transfer that you can book from tourism agencies or websites in the city. Thus, you can make a comfortable door-to-door journey and easily catch your flight.
Transportation from Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport to Santiago City Center
Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport stands out as an easy-to-reach airport with its location approximately 20 km from the city center. There are many ways to reach the city center from the airport.
The easiest of these, of course, is to take a taxi. You can take two types of taxis from the airport. One of them is the taxi called Vía Controlada, which is under the control of the airport and you can get on by paying in advance, with a fixed tariff, in order to prevent fraud, and their color is blue. Others are taxis that serve with taxi meters and their colors are yellow-black.
In addition, Cabify and Uber companies provide service in this city and their prices are close to normal taxis.
Another option is to use the airport buses. There are two companies operating from the airport to the city. One of them, Centropuerto, organizes reciprocal flights between the airport and Los Heroes Metro Station. These flights are organized every 20 minutes between 06:00 in the morning and 23:30 in the evening, every day of the week, and every hour after midnight.
Another company, TurBus, organizes reciprocal flights to Los Héroes Metro Station between 06.00 - 22.30 only on weekdays.
One of the most suitable options for this journey is the shuttles that have offices at the airport. Although this minibus service, which leaves when full but takes you to your hotel, is more expensive than the bus, it stands out as a very reasonable option as it leaves you at the door of your hotel. The journey can take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the location of the places where the dolmus passengers stay.
Although there is a metro in the city of Santiago, it is not possible to reach the airport by metro yet.
