The lower part of the tower was used as a city prison in the Middle Ages. The tower has been used for literary meetings of the tower society since 1951. The City Tower also has a 31-meter-high viewing platform for visitors.
Helbling House
Helbling House, located in the Altstadt (Old Town) section and opposite the Golden Roof, was named after Sebastian Helbling, who owned the building between 1800 and 1827. The house was built in the 15th century by a gothic and baroque architect, and in the following centuries, it was developed with new architectural styles. Adorned with bay windows, window frames, bows, masks, and sculptures, Helbling House was completed in 1732 by Anton Gigl.
