Transportation from City Center to Funchal Airport
Funchal Airport or Madeira International Airport is approximately 20 km from the city center and it is quite easy to get to the airport with its extensive transportation network.
The easiest way to reach the airport is to take the airport shuttle named Aerobus. Shuttles depart from Formosa Beach and collect passengers from many stops on the way and reach the airport. The journey takes an average of 45 minutes. It is not possible to book or buy tickets in advance. You can pay the ticket price on the bus and in cash only. You can check their website to see the departure times. Services are not running on December 25th as it is the Christmas Holiday.
The widespread public transportation network on the island also allows you to easily reach the airport from the city. There are at least 15 bus lines from the center to the airport. To check the lines and times, you can check the official website of the SAM transportation company.
Taking a taxi or using the UBER app is one of the easiest ways to get from the city to the airport. The airport is about 20 km away and the journey takes around 25 minutes. If you decide to take a taxi, be sure to ask for the average price in advance or check the average price on UBER.
Transportation from Porto Airport to the City Center
Porto is located in the south of Portugal, on the banks of the Duoro River. Porto, the capital of the province of the same name, is the most important industrial point of the country. The city center, located north of the Duora River, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Porto's world-famous product, Port wine, is made with grapes from the vineyards lined along the Duoro River. The recipe for this grape variety and wine is protected by law. The only airport serving the city is called Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport or Porto Airport. This international airport is located 11 km northwest of Porto city centre.
There are bus, metro, taxi and car rental options to reach the city center from Porto Airport, which is 11 km away.
The most convenient way to reach the city center from Porto Airport is to use buses. You can reach the city center from the airport by buses numbered 601, 602, 604 and 3M, which depart every half hour.
Another option for those who prefer public transportation is the metro line. The purple Line E lines serve at intervals of 20-30 minutes between 06:00 in the morning and 01:00 at night. You can get to the city center and Estádio do Dragão stop in about half an hour by metro from the airport. You can buy your tickets for the metro from automatic machines.
You can use the 24-hour taxis to reach the city center from Porto Airport easily. Note that night and weekend rates are different for taxis.
Another way to reach Porto city center is to rent a car. The companies you can find offices at the airport are Goldcar, Avis / Budget, Europcar, Guerin, Enterprise, Hertz and Sixt.
