Buses belonging to Air Link and Air Coach companies take their passengers from the city center to the airport with a frequency of 15-30 minutes. It is also possible to go to the airport from Parnell Square by using the 747 city bus. The bus journey between the city center and the airport takes about 30 minutes depending on the traffic density.
Another alternative to get to the airport from the city center is the Northern Metro. It can be reached by subway from O'Connell station to the airport terminal. Transportation from Santo Domingo Airport to Santo Domingo City Center
Las Américas International Airport, also known as Santo Domingo Airport, is known as the second busiest airport in the Dominican Republic. Since there is no public transportation to reach Santo Domingo city center, transportation is mostly provided by private transfers and taxis.
You can find a taxi 24/7 at the airport. Taxis here charge a fixed price to take passengers into the city. However, there may be unofficial changes to this fixed schedule during high season, so you can also book your journey online before arriving at the airport.
The distance between the city center and the airport is 30 km and the journey normally takes 45 minutes. You can pay the taxi driver in cash, either in US dollars or in Dominican pesos, but since the fixed rate is set in US dollars, the taxi driver's own exchange rate may be lower than you expect when you pay in pesos. Also, taxis at the airport only take (maximum) 3 passengers.
