Hz. One of the 12 Apostles of Jesus and AD. St. Thomas National Shrine, the tomb of St. Thomas, who is said to have died in the city in 78, was built as a small temple by the Portuguese in the 16th century. The building, in which the story of St. Thomas is told in the glasses decorated with eye-catching colorful stained glass, was restored in 1896 and turned into a large church. The Great Mosque, also known as the Wallajah Mosque, was built by the Wallajah family in 1795 and was built entirely of gray granite without the use of wood and steel. With its symmetrical eye-catching exterior, interior decoration and two eye-catching minarets, it is shown as a complete architectural marvel. One of the few places where non-Hindus are allowed to enter and visit, the Kapaleeswarar Temple, MS. It was built in 1250 in honor of Lord Shiva. One of the most eye-catching examples of Dravidian temple architecture, the building includes a 37-meter-long entrance bridge and 63 eye-catching statues of Saivaite Saints.
St. George's Fort, the first structure built by the British in India in 1640, is a stunning structure overlooking the Bay of Bengal with the appearance of a nostalgic mansion that houses government offices and museums. In addition to the Fortress Museum and the Archaeological Research Institute of India, there is St. Mary's Church, which was built in 1680 and has the distinction of being the first English church in India and the first Anglican church in the East.
