Transportation from Saint Lucia Airport to the City Center
Saint Lucia is a tropical island country located in the Caribbean. Its capital and largest port is the city of Castries. Also a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
There are two airports on the island. One of them is Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) at the northern tip of the island. This airport is the main airport of the island and international flights land here. The other is the George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) at the south end. Since the runway of this airport is parallel to Vigie Beach, you may hear it referred to as Vigie Airport by the locals. The planes of low-budget airline companies that make intra-Caribbean flights in general land here.
Undoubtedly, the most economical way to get to the city center from Hewanorra International Airport is to take the buses that pass here. The bus number 2 starts its journey from the Vieux Fort stop inside the airport and ends at the station called Castries in the center of Castries.
Since the airport is 60 km away from the city center, this journey takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes. When you get on the bus, you can pay the fare to the driver in local currency and only in cash.
Other than this bus, your only option is to take a taxi or a private transfer. You can take a taxi from the taxi stand you will see when you exit the airport arrivals floor. This is not a very economical option as the distance you will travel will be around 60 km. You don't have an option like Uber on the island.
You can also use a private transfer service that you can book from your hotel or online. If you are a large family or group, private transfer service may even become an economical option. After this long flight, you will reach your hotel without getting tired, thanks to a service that will greet you with your name and take you directly to the hotel.
George F. L. Charles Airport is only 4 km from the city center. You do not have a public transport option to go to the city center from here. You can call a taxi or a larger vehicle by going to the “SLASPA Information Desk” in the airport terminal building.
Since SLASPA (Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority) is an official institution called the Sea and Airports Authority, the vehicles called from here can be considered reliable. It is worth noting that the same box office is also at Hewanorra Airport.
